Join us at Midwest Horse Fair, April 17, 18, and 19th 2015 in Madison, WI at the Alliant Energy Center in the Exhibition Hall Booth 2103. You will be able to meet our daughter Sarah Losurdo who will be assisting us in expanding some of our horse experiences at the resort, which I will talk about in a minute. Skip will be available throughout the fair for those of you wanting to make reservations, change reservations, or check on availability. I will be taking care of new critters; the grandkids, and numerous dogs, cats and guinea hens back at the ranch. The grandkids and I will be attending the fair on Saturday only, so stop by and say “hi” as I will probably be manning the booth much that day, and let Sarah take her kids shopping for boots and cowboy hats.

Driving Thorn BSOur carriage rides will be growing at the ranch. Sarah has been working with Black Rose Thorn, and will be driving him on days when Skip is not available. Our hope is that he will get the opportunity to take out visitors more frequently this summer. Drives will vary in length giving visitors a chance to tailor their ride from let’s just see what it feels like; to wow, this is a pretty cool way to see the north woods.

Finally, my little donkeys have been hooked to my covered wagon. I have driven them one time so far, hopefully, I will be driving them many times over the course of the season. My hope is to do a late afternoon drive with our wagon filled with Spur of the Moment Ranch memorabilia such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, water bottles, mugs, etc. providing an old traveling store experience for our visitors. My goal is to take our little covered wagon to nearby parades and do some old fashioned advertising.Covered Wagon first time BS

Sarah joined us part time at the beginning of January. She has extensive experience over the course of 20 some years with showing horses; training horses. She studied equine business management at Stephens College in Columbia, MO and graduated  in 1998.  For many years she owned a Saddlebred  named Hagendaz. They enjoyed many adventures around the United States. After leaving the profession for several years, she is living near us and rekindling her love for the horses. That being said, we have purchased 2 new members to join our menagerie of critters that make up the ranch. The first is a quarter horse named Vegas. She comes to us from Antigo, she has been with us a couple of months now. She is a great horse with a good attitude who doesn’t get excited about much. The grandkids have started riding her, Sarah has been working with her. The plan is to use her for others who have never had the opportunity to learn about horses a chance to have that experience. The experience can range from simply a lesson to several hours that includes care, grooming, feeding, riding lesson, and trail riding.Bryce and VegasDarla, Sarah, and Tessa BS

The second horse is a Saddlebred named Darla, she comes to us from Baraboo. She has quite a little motor; she’s very kind and cute; but loves to trail ride.  Sarah will be using her to companion when on a one on one experience on trails; and also for guide service for folks coming from other areas of the country who are unsure of getting off the main trail to explore the forest.

Brochures with pricing and details will be available at Midwest Horse Fair, Exhibition Hall, Booth 2103.  Spur of the Moment Resort will hosting our 15 Year Anniversary on June 6th, 2015 showcasing our new adventures. Hope to see you all here.
